Ofer Deri was born and bred in Israel, hailing from Beit Shean. From age 6 he was raised in Jerusalem, and following his military service, he returned to Jerusalem and completed a five year academic program at the Sam Speigel School of Film and Television, focusing on filmmaking and directing. Ofir wrote and directed a short film entitled Skitopolisthat has aired on Israel television, and a full-length documentary entitled Zera Meushar (Seeds of Joy) that aired on HOT Docu. He currently works at Arutz Meir (HOT), a television and internet channel that provides religious and value based media for children and adults, where he is a senior film-maker and editor. In addition, he recently directed a television series for the station. Ofir also teaches film at the High School for the Arts in Jerusalem. Since its inception, Ofir has been largely responsible for the creation of JETS’ educational videos that have been utilized for distance learning programs.
